Barinatxe beach is the ideal place to start surfing in Getxo. It is surrounded by spectacular scenery. The perfect conditions for learning and enjoying this exciting water activity are provided by the waves of the Abra Sea.

Surfing Course – Workshop in Getxo
If you visit Getxo and you like surfing, have a go on our beaches with our monitors in an activity who will introduce you to this sport that is so closely linked with our municipality. Enjoy the beach and learn to surf!
Gexto is the perfect place for surfing. Testimony to this fact is that the Punta Galea Big Challenge world surfing championship event is held in this coastal area of the municipality every year (weather permitting).
This event attracts thousands of tourists who come to the Basque Coast to enjoy a truly international sporting spectacle.
Just a hop away from Bilbao and world-class surf spots like Mundaka, learn to surf on Getxo’s beaches: La Salvaje/Barinatxe, Arrigunaga and Ereaga.
If you come to Getxo for over a week, you can take a full or an intensive course. There are different teaching/learning modes, from a single class to personalised classes with your own monitor. Please enquire!
