The International Image Festival celebrates 20 years in Getxo

Getxophoto will hold its latest edition from 28 May to 21 June 2026, once again turning Getxo into a meeting point for contemporary photography and visual culture.

For several weeks, the festival will transform streets, squares and urban spaces into a vast open-air gallery, inviting the public to discover projects by international artists who use images as a tool to explore the world around us.

RESET: the Theme of the 2026 Edition

In June 2026 Getxophoto turns 20, and it does so under the concept of RESET, a theme that invites us to stop, rethink and restart. After the three previous editions dedicated to PAUSE, PLAY and REC, the upcoming edition proposes pressing the key that allows us to restart the system.

The festival will host projects that explore experiences of change, recycling, reinvention and transformation, as well as stories concerning life cycles, celebrations or individual and collective stories of resetting. This is an invitation to reflect on how people and societies adapt, evolve and find new ways to start anew.

Art, photography and public space

One of the hallmarks of Getxophoto is its relationship with the urban space. Many of the exhibitions are presented in the open air or in unexpected locations in the municipality, allowing visitors to discover the works while walking through the streets and squares.

This dialogue between photography, the city and its citizens makes each edition of the festival a unique cultural experience that brings contemporary art closer to all audiences.
