The Traineras rowing league is a top-level sports competition/spectacle that brings together aspects like tradition, modernity and the environment and highlights such qualities as teamwork, endeavour, synchronisation and dexterity.

It takes place during the summer months in an unparalleled, large geographical area, with a population of approximately 6.5 million inhabitants. Trainera rowing regattas are, today, the only local sport in Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, and the most popular in Euskadi, that descends from the fishing activities traditionally carried out in north coast villages and thus forms part of their history and culture.
